In 2010, some 317 million people live in West Africa. As the population is decreasing and ageing in many OECD countries (0.03% population growth), West Africa’s population is still rapidly growing (2.35% population growth). The regional population should exceed 400 million by 2020 and 500 million between 2030 and 2035.
